Racecourse Lane grows two clone varieties on its vineyard. PT23 is a classic Hunter clone grown quite extensively around NSW.It has a reputation for blackberry, black pepper flavours with intense colour and greater tannin. The smaller block were grafted from Old Stevens Shiraz, one of the earliest vines in the Hunter.
Our Sangiovese is grown from a Mudgee Paulson 1103 clone. The base grape of Tuscany and the Italian wine industry .with a deep red colour and red berry fruit flavours with a hint of herbs this wine is great to pair with most dishes but of course with pasta !
Verdelho grape Vines originate from Portugal and produce a wine that is aromatic with intense flavours and hints of lime and honeysuckle. The barbecue wine of Australia a fantastic wine for those summer days
Over the past 2 years Oakvale wine have produced excellent Verdelho wines using the grapes from our Race course Lane vineyards
Our next adventure ! We have grafted about 2 acres of vines to Chardonnay . Master grafters Bruce and Brian from Victoria helped us graft some clone 95 on to our existing roots . A lot of nurturing and hopefully next harvest we will see some grapes. I’m partial to a Chardonnay so very keen to get something special .
